Seventh Sense

Music was my first love, and it will be my last.
Music of the future, music of the past.
To live without my music, would be impossible to do.
'Cause in this world of madness, my music gets me through.

John Miles wrote this lyric and it pretty much says it all for me. My music gets me through so many things and I'm sure it helps you as well.

There is a 7th sense in many of us, and it’s directly related to musical influence. We can be at a place in time, conjure up a feeling, change our mood, and even sleep and wake to music. I don’t think anything else, other than unconditional love, has this much ability to affect people.

Remember that first record or CD that you bought with your own money? You were so proud and you probably still have it. What about your first kiss? Your first breakup? Your first trip to the beach with friends? It’s all there. The memories ... and the music.

What about those lyrics that you wrote and keep stashed in a drawer somewhere? Get them out and start writing again. Music is about telling stories and making statements. It’s about feeling happy and feeling sad. Even if you're not a musician, or you can’t sing, you still have a voice. Write your thoughts down ... in lyrical form. It will be a challenge for you and will also be a way to clear your mind. Just rhyme your vowel sounds and you'll be set!

We start our day with something "up" and happy, then as the day progresses we kinda like to slow it down a bit. Nightfall comes at the end of the day and we use music to relax ... or bring it back up again at the local watering hole. It’s truly interwoven with our lives. Try getting through a day without music. It'll be like quitting smoking or giving up black jack in Vegas. Not an easy task my friend!

For the music lover, it's always been your best friend. Your mainstay in this world. Your safe habour. Your island. Your inner voice. An integral part of your life.

Be sure to experience as much and as many types of music as you can. There's a medicinal value in it. You'll feel better, look better, live better, and probably live longer.

Now, if you'll excuse me ... there's a song on the radio that I don’t wanna miss!
